Reports to: Director of Campus Ministry The Mission At Salpointe
Catholic High School, we believe service is a fundamental
expression of our faith and a key component of our Carmelite
charism. We also believe that spiritual retreats are critical to
students’ faith journeys and provide unique opportunities to build
community and learn to pray as a Carmelite. We are seeking a
dynamic, faith-filled Service & Retreat Coordinator who will:
Transform our service program from compliance-based requirements
into a coordinated program that fosters compassion and lifelong
commitment to justice. Using the Kairos capstone retreat as a
guide, build an underclassmen retreat program that builds community
among students and helps them develop a quiet prayer practice that
allows them to hear the voice of God. The Role The Service &
Retreat Coordinator is responsible for the vision, implementation,
and oversight of all student community service initiatives. This
individual will not just manage logistics; they will serve as a
motivator, helping students see the face of Christ in the community
members they serve. The Coordinator will also be responsible for
helping to develop and implement underclassmen retreats to include
leadership selection, logistics, programming, and mentoring. We are
seeking a mission-driven educator who is deeply committed to the
formation of young people and the values of Catholic education. The
ideal candidate is social-justice minded and able to ignite that
same passion in teenagers, helping students see their role in
creating a more just and compassionate world. The ability to
organize multiple retreats for freshmen and sophomores throughout
the year is critical, including coordinating campus spaces,
arranging for food and beverages, and developing meaningful
activities that inspire students.This individual has a proven track
record of working effectively with high school students,
demonstrating a strong understanding of adolescent development and
the ability to appropriately challenge, inspire, and support
students during these formative years.The successful candidate is a
practicing Catholic, or someone with a deep respect for the
Catholic tradition, who views service not simply as an obligation,
but as a spiritual calling rooted in faith and action, and
understands the value of coming together on retreat to grow in
faith and fellowship.Strong communication skills are essential,
along with the confidence and presence to speak comfortably and
authentically to large groups of students, parents, and community
partners.Key Responsibilities Visionary Leadership: Re-imagine the
service curriculum to emphasize why we serve and ensure positive
and formative student service experiences; build a program that
introduces students to the power of retreat experiences and
prepares them for Kairos. Relationship Building: Develop and
maintain partnerships with Tucson-based nonprofits, parishes, and
community organizations, as well as campus entities whose
cooperation is essential to planning successful retreats. Student
Mentorship: Work directly with high school students to help them
reflect on their experiences through the lens of Catholic Social
Teaching and help to develop their leadership skills. Program
Management: Organize school-wide "Service Days," immersion trips,
local outreach opportunities; plan and implement multiple one-day
underclassmen retreats. Integration: Collaborate with the Theology
Department and Campus Ministry to ensure service and underclassmen
retreats are integrated into the spiritual life of the school.
Retreat Planning: Collaborate with the Theology Department and
Campus Ministry to revitalize and reenvision spiritual retreats for
freshmen, sophomores and juniors. Additional Responsibilities In
support of our commitment to student formation and campus safety,
this position includes shared responsibilities such as lunch
supervision and presence during designated student activities.
These duties are viewed not as ancillary tasks but as meaningful
opportunities to build relationships, mentor students, and
contribute to a strong, connected school community.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Social Work, Education, or a related
field. Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in youth ministry,
teaching, or non-profit leadership. Knowledge of Catholic Social
Teaching. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage
multiple projects simultaneously. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a
plus, given our vibrant Tucson community. How to Apply Interested
