Job Description Position Information TitleGlobal Professor of Practice DepartmentLaw Instruction (3603) Medical Sub-Speciality Location Position Summary The University of Arizona (UA) seeks an individual to teach in our innovative dual degree undergraduate program at Ocean University of China (OUC) to begin in summer 2018. Launched in 2015, this new UA-OUC program, which allows Chinese students to earn undergraduate law degrees from both universities in four years, entirely in residence in China, has 283 current students and is expected to grow to 400 students at full capacity. The degree program is the first U.S.-China joint offering in law available fully in residence in China. Students in the program will earn an LLB (the law degree commonly offered outside the United States) from OUC and a bachelor of arts in law from UA-taking the same U.S. law courses and receiving the same legal training as UA bachelor's in law students in Tucson. Law courses for the UA bachelor of arts will be taught in English in a flipped classroom setting during the third and fourth years of their undergraduate program. For the summer and fall semesters of the appointment, the individual will help facilitate and teach core undergraduate classes in Tucson, before moving to our global location in Qingdao, China starting in March 2019. In Qingdao, the individual will teach and facilitate courses in the core law curriculum there, including basic private and public law subjects. Electives courses will be taught primarily by visiting faculty over the summer months. - Individual or family apartment housing while in residence in Qingdao - Health insurance - Annual roundtrip airfare to China - Moving allowance (up to $1000) Duties & Responsibilities -Teach core law subjects including Common Law I, Common Law II, Public Law, and Procedure and/or business law subjects, including International Trade Law, Business Organizations, and Intellectual Property. -Assist the Director of the Ocean University Law Program to coordinate with OUC personnel regarding UA and manage the UA relationship with OUC Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Minimum Qualifications -J.D. or equivalent. -At least two years experience teaching at the university level Preferred Qualifications -Experience living abroad -Experience teaching second-language learners -Managerial experience -Some proficiency in Chinese is preferred but not required RankTo be determined.
