Energetics and Propulsion Department of the Mechanical Products
Directorate. This organization is responsible for the full spectrum
of warhead fuzing, rocket motor ignition and all other weapon
initiation safety systems technology. Development of one-shot
devices/pyrotechnic components, specifically manufacturing process
development. This position is located in Tucson, AZ.We value

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Fundamental design competence in one-shot devices and
pyrotechnic components
- Work with pyrotechnics/bridge components/one-shot devices
operations processes
- Work with energetic material process technology - bridge
materials formulation/application, component level material
consolidation
- One shot device safety requirements
- Failure investigation processes including test & analysis
definition and execution experience
- Qualification, FAI/FAAT, LAT test methodologies and statistical
analysis requirements for data significance
- Support development of technology maturation at supply base for
component and provide technical oversight at the subcontractor
- Support and Lead Failure Investigations
- Frequently interface with the Customer to identify user
needs
- Manage the subcontract suppliers to specify and deliver
required subsystem components on schedule and on budget
- Design, analyze, test and evaluate safety systems
- Develop Statements-of-Work (SOWs)
- Develop Critical Item Development Specifications (CIDS)
- Support fact-finding and contract negotiations
- Test data reduction
- Supporting the generation of safety analyses as required to
support safety organization requests
A PhD can account for 5 years of experience as required for this
position.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
(STEM)
- Typically requires Bachelor's degree and 5 years of prior
relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 3 years of relevant
experience
- (5) years of experience in Energetics and/or
One-shot/pyrotechnic components.
- Experience with one shot device safety requirements
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S.
citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
- Eight (8) years of experience in Energetics and
One-shot/pyrotechnic components
- Fundamental design competence in one-shot devices and
pyrotechnic components
- Experience in pyrotechnics/bridge components/one-shot devices
operations processes
- Failure investigation processes including test & analysis
definition and execution experience
- Understanding of Qualification, FAI/FAAT, LAT test
methodologies and statistical analysis requirements for data
significance
- Support development of technology maturation at supply base for
component and provide technical oversight at the subcontractor
- Prior experience in technical leadership
- Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Power Point & Project)
Experience
- Project Management as applied to team interaction and
deliverables
- Must be willing to travel to suppliers and government
facilities
- Must currently have or be able to obtain a DoD issued Secret
security clearance
- Demonstrated ability in technical execution
- Experience in the technical management of subcontracts on
Government programs
- Project engineering skills and experience using Earned Value
Management System
- Knowledge of ProENGINEER modeling tool
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of One-shot /
Pyrotechnics Design, Analysis and Testing
- Energetic Subsystem Integration and Energetics Manufacturing
