The Energetics and Propulsion Department is an engineering organization in the Mechanical Engineering (ME) Directorate. The department is seeking to hire a Senior Principal Engineer - Fuzing. What You Will Do Develop highly advanced technologies, and concepts to the systems integration of fuzing devices, controllers, software, mechanical and electrical interfaces for integration into missile systems and space vehicles. Review manufacturing processes and problem resolution as well as working directly with subcontractors on the design and manufacturing of fuzing devices. Work in a collaborative environment with program management in long-range program planning Manage fuzing device development projects and propulsion subcontracts. Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related degree and and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 7 years of relevant experience A minimum of ten years of experience in fuzing / one shots / engineering technology and/or engineering design Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer Education: MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related science degree Twelve or more years of directly related experience in fuzing devices and their applications. Ability to perform fuzing trade studies evaluating different electrical designs and estimate design and production cost and schedule. Demonstrated ability to develop and lead collaborative efforts with other technical disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and systems.
