in Raytheon's Materials and Process Engineering (M&PE)
Department, servicing all of Raytheon with innovative solutions to
nonstandard problems. The selected candidate will have the
opportunity to work in M&PE's world class lab, performing
hands-on-testing of adhesives, elastomers, polymers, tapes,
composites, metals, and various other production materials vital to
the success of our products.What You Will Do:
- Test a wide array of materials for compliance to drawings,
specifications, and program application.
- Work in a "wet lab," observing all safety procedures and common
lab protocols.
- Write scientific reports using generated data to support
technical dispositions.What You Will Learn:
- How to perform material testing using FTIR, DSC, hardness
gauges, mechanical testing machines, and more
- How to follow written test instructions and test a wide array
of materials for compliance
- Reading and interpreting numerous types of requirements and
specifications.The Chemical & Materials Engineer I job is in
Tucson, AZ and the position is onsite.Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology,
Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years
experience.
- Experience in Chemistry and using laboratory equipment (i.e.
FTIR, TGA, DSC, SEM/EDS, ovens, thermometers, calipers, and
microscopes)Qualifications We Prefer:
- Chemistry degree (e.g. analytical, general, or organic)
- Experience reading and interpreting technical
specifications
- An understanding of material testing/analysis such as:
hardness, adhesion tests, sample preparation procedures, and cross
sectioning
- Experience performing and managing high volume, highly

our products.#LI-SM4The salary range for this role is 55,000 USD -
107,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate
representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several
