We are currently seeking a talented individual for the position of Engineering Business Intelligence Metering Automation II to Senior. The successful candidate will c reate reports, automation, tools, queries, and databases in support of Engineering applications and equipment. Manage server, application and device configurations for Engineering applications and equipment. Use reporting and programming skill sets to develop scripts or queries to data mine application data and tools to enhance or fill needs or capabilities required by the business. Provide services associated with the data to support clients (producers) and internal and external customers. Work directly with and supports clients, application vendors, service providers, and consultants to meet UNS business requirements. Will provide technical expertise in software design, engineering design, project management, data analysis, budget preparation, technical assistance, database and server administration, testing and evaluation of engineering standard equipment and designs to provide optimum reliability and efficiency. Position-Related Responsibilities Perform process analysis and improvement through automation of data and systems for Engineering and other departments. Identifies and defines opportunities and strategies to use information technology to simplify, integrate, and otherwise improve the organization's business and workflow processes. Creates new custom solutions when supported applications don't include required functionality. Designs and develops tools to automate tasks using common programming languages. Designs tools to automate the collection and presentation of data (metering, Synchrophasor, etc.) to other departments using PL/SQL and T-SQL. Demonstrate a strong technical understanding of SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Integration Services and SQL Server Analysis Services. Design and create data integration packages, data cubes and database connection objects. Create automated reports using Microsoft's SQL Server Reporting Services and Oracle's PL/SQL reporting language. Perform DBA duties on several SQL server and Oracle databases that Engineering maintains and has responsibility. Work closely with IT on the development and design of system integrations based on Service Oriented Architecture, XML and flat files. Collaborates with other departments and teams to develop technical requirements necessary to implement a successful project with minimal risk. Identify potential points of failure in system integrations and develop tools to automatically resolve failures or notify administrators when an automated recovery is not an option. Creates queries and reporting tools used in operational analysis of information by various clients. Applies application changes using proper code control and development/test/production environment management. Plays key role in testing application patches, modifications and upgrades. Identifies and executes test cases and captures/compiles results Works with manufactures (alliance partners) business areas and technical support staff to troubleshoot problems related to data errors, application defects and client training. Design and manage the deployment of automated meter reading networks. Develop validation and estimation routines for metering data based on ACC approved rules and regulations. Design Meter systems and related equipment required for effective monitoring and maintenance of electrical generation, high voltage transmission, distribution systems, and customer/industrial metering. Evaluates and recommends equipment and/or components available to meet project requirements or improve existing installations in a way which optimizes cost and reliability. Establish major project requirements for both regulated and non-regulated business activities. Assist the Engineering Management to develop O & M and Capital budget that are accurate and comprehensive and monitor them for adherence. Assist field personnel with troubleshooting of communications networks and other equipment. Oversee development of standards and procedures to reduce costs and maintain consistency among designs. Performs feasibility evaluations, estimates system analysis and programming time, computer resources, and related costs. Initiates job tasks (work orders) and tracks expenditures as may be required to complete project assignments. Leads formal and informal meetings concerning assigned projects and is able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel both in the office and field crews. Develop and update the software for the automated distribution capacitor program and Volt/VAR optimization (VVO). Assist Engineering and Control Area Operation in the implementation and operation of the program and troubleshooting of problems. Sarbanes Oxley and internal Auditing procedure documenting and compliance record keeping. Implement procedures to allow for annual ACC data compliance and reporting. Assist in generating service orders to insure compliance with annual ACC reporting. Provide support for other corporate divisions (UES) as requested by Supervisor. Continually increases personal understanding of utility business functions and processes. Leads formal and informal meetings concerning assigned projects and is able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel both in the office and field crews. Assists with departmental and interdepartmental training to assure proper installation, operation and/or maintenance of equipment when requested. Assigns, directs and reviews the work and/or other employees associated with an assignment. Consults on problems of a technical nature encountered during various work assignments. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Level: BI/Automation II Description: Will have primary responsibility for medium to large projects and act as the project engineer/manager. May have several projects or studies assigned at the same time and may assist other personnel on large projects. Will direct the designs of technicians when necessary. Can represent TEP when meeting with other Companies or organizations. Will assist in the creation of billing rates in the meter data management system. Will assist in the functional testing of the automated billing export system and MDM rate engine. Will create software programs designed to monitor and correct billing errors before they occur. Will assist in the creation of reports designed to meet the data requirements made by other departments. Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree in a Mathematics, Information Technology or other related fields and three years professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the utility industry specializing in metering data preferred. Acts as the technical project lead for assigned projects Has developed good leadership skills and is fully comfortable leading meetings and speaking in front of others. Ability to estimate cost of various types of construction and installation. Creation of bill of material for project procurement requirements. Manufacture drawing review and approval. Must have intermediate to advanced software development and data analysis skills. Must have intermediate knowledge of networking and SCADA protocols. Should be able to subnet a network and define a DNP Point list for monitoring and control of an RTU. Must have knowledge of Metering data collections systems, meter data management systems and billing systems. Must be familiar with common unit of measures and how they are used in billing, planning and forecasting. Gather reporting requirements from a business area without assistance. Will assist in development of reports and data subscriptions. Create a script that automates a business process. Ability to exercise flexibility, initiative, good judgment and discretion. Good organizational, time management, customer service and problem-solving skills and the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated aptitude for client needs assessment and requirements definition. Work with more experienced personnel to provide forensic review of failed equipment. On call duty to respond to outage events and provide forensic and technical expertise to rectify and re-engineer the issue for a solution. Level: BI/Automation III Description: Will have primary responsibility for projects of any size or complexity and act as the project engineer/manager. Comfortable with presenting departmental training material in front of others. Can represent TEP when meeting with other companies or organizations as a technical lead. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications of BI/Automation II and six (6) years or more professional experience in a developer role with demonstrated experience and expertise in programming with at least two years at an electric utility company or illustrate equal competency.
