Job Description:

We are searching for our next Chief Executive Officer to provide inspired leadership to our non-profit organization to fulfill its mission. The CEO aligns the organization assuring that the mission, vision and values of the organization are primary influencers in setting strategic direction. The CEO directs organizational growth and development as a leading provider of premiere services for members and their families, and as an important community resource. The CEO will foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and encourages individual integrity and social responsibility; maintain a positive and ethical work climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating top-quality employees at all levels; and work with officers and directors to promote a culture of ethical business conduct throughout the organization, establishing standards and oversight structures that are designed to promote integrity and deter wrongdoing.

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Assures the organization provides high quality services for members through a defined strategic direction which meets identified needs of people in the community
  • Has in place organization mission, vision and values
  • Assures the programs and services of the organization evolve to meet community needs and key initiatives
  • Defines the strategic business direction in annual plans, strategies, goals and budgets
  • Involves representatives of key influencers in determining direction
  • Develops, fosters, grows, and engages in relationships and networks in our communities as an essential economic and public health influencer
  • Assures quality services which meet appropriate outcomes and consumer expectations
  • Assures the organization has effective financial systems and processes
  • Has an effective office of finance and administration that continuously monitors organization's finances
  • Has sufficient reserves and a diversified revenue base
  • Has processes to predict and monitor organizational growth and an established system to monitor the organization's progress against the plan
  • Has a written plan and procedures for capital investments
  • Has adequate internal controls in place to protect the assets of the organization
  • Assures the organization has sufficient financial resources through implementation of an effective comprehensive development program
  • Has all components of a comprehensive development program in place
  • Has processes in place to ensure plan is monitored and evaluated on a regular basis
  • Takes a lead role in fundraising, particularly related to major gifts
  • Ensures the board is actively involved in raising funds
  • Assures the organization has sufficient human resources
  • Ensures the organization is staffed with highly competent employees
  • Creates an environment for high performance, growth and learning
  • Has effective human resource management practices in place
  • Assures the organization has a strong and effective volunteer board
  • Actively participates in the recruitment, orientation and development of board members individually and collectively
  • Keeps the board informed and facilitates sound decision-making process
  • Provides input on selection of members for advisory groups and works jointly with the Board Chair to develop advisory groups
  • Assures the organization is vibrant and resilient and produces high quality programs and services
  • Understands non-profit status and assures best practices according to regulatory entities
  • Provides for internal communication systems to align and support the organization
  • Assures organizational quality indicators are in place
  • Assures organization structure which supports the culture and goals of the organization
  • Assures the organization has a service delivery system to provide quality services for members and their families which meet identified needs of people in the community
  • Provides appropriate leadership/management for services
  • Ensures that effective member relations and service evaluation systems are in place
  • Assures services meet accreditation and licensing standards
  • Assures effective leadership of the senior management team and continuously encourages and supports their personal leadership growth
  • Leads the senior management team
  • Provides support and coaching in the team's decision making
  • Supports the team's collective development, encouraging teamwork and alignment of efforts
  • Assures that the interests of members served are promoted to a variety of public resources
  • Understands member issues and educates the public
  • Influences system and regulatory change to better meet needs of members served
  • Provides for an excellent external communications program which results in public acceptance and support of members, contributions and referrals for services RESULTS EXPECTED:

    • Keeps the organization's culture oriented to growth and learning EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: Education---
      • Master's degree in related / relevant field, preferred in behavioral health field. Experience---
        • Multiple years (minimum 12) leadership experience in a similarly complex organization; relevant management experience in a human services organization
        • Proven Fiscal and Program management experience
        • Working knowledge of Arizona's integrated care and direct service delivery systems for a variety of populations (Behavioral Health, Children and Family Services, Developmental Disabilities, etc.)
        • Strategic Leadership experience
        • Proven success in fund raising and fund development
        • Demonstrated success in leading people and aligning an organization around a shared vision
        • Experience in working with nonprofit boards
        • Demonstrated success in positioning the organization in the marketplace to achieve its goals
        • Able to effectively represent the interest of the organization to various media in the community
        • Possess a general understanding of technology and its use in the organization to support services and management Regulatory -
          • Clean criminal background check and the ability to obtain and maintain a level one clearance card
          • Must be able to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as face mask, gown, goggles, and gloves, for any amount of time necessary to provide a physical barrier to protect the employee and other
