Job Description Position Information TitleBusiness Manager DepartmentSocial & Behavioral Sci Admin (0443) LocationMain Campus Position Summary The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) is accepting applications for a Business Manager position to work for the School of Sociology. The selected candidate will need to successfully manage grants, program fees, and many other complex business and financial matters. It is important that the candidate be able to perform these tasks at a high level. This position dual reports to the Assistant Dean of Business & Finance of SBS and the Director of the School of Sociology. The successful candidate will independently manage and control accounting, budgeting, auditing and other financial or related functions to ensure the financial integrity of the School. Business personnel in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences work to provide excellent business support to administrators, faculty, staff, and students. They work in a collaborative environment to improve reporting, processes, and customer service. A successful candidate has a high level of technical competency, dedication to a team approach, accuracy of work, timeliness, and excellent communication skills. The School of Sociology is an academic department and a professional school in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Arizona, the state's only public land grant university. The School of Sociology houses a highly ranked Ph.D. program in Sociology, a BA in Sociology, a new B.S. in Care, Health, and Society, and contributes courses to the Sports and Society track in the Bachelor of General Studies. The School maintains the commitment to being a first-rate research program in sociology. Duties & Responsibilities - Performing all day-to-day business functions in the School of Sociology, on both UA and Foundation accounts. These include, but not limited to, disbursements, travel transactions, account maintenance and reconciliation, procurement, fund transfers, payroll, and Pcard transactions. - Performing all human resources functions in the School of Sociology. These include, but not limited to, personnel hiring, job and employee data changes, and leaves and termination processing. - Financial forecasting, financial planning, and any other business matters. - Preparing high level financial and budget reports. - Establishing efficient business practices and keeping up to date with policies, regulations, and procedures. - Assisting faculty and graduate students with grant proposal preparation and post-award management, including effort reporting and cost sharing. - Additional duties may be assigned. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Minimum Qualifications - Excellent analytical and budgeting skills. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task. - Ability to work independently or in a team environment. - Experience utilizing financial processing and data management systems. Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field AND two years of related budget and accounting experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible budgeting and accounting experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with University of Arizona systems, policies, and procedures.
