The Development Operations Manager leads the Arizona Development Operations Team in support of major gift fundraising efforts for Arizona. The Manager is responsible for providing operational leadership and support in such areas as: development planning, forecasting development revenue for the chapter, prospect stream development and analysis, prospect research, gift processing and fundraising opportunity review and management, donor stewardship planning, operational support for special events and trips to field programs. The Manager also represents Arizona in the TNC Development Operations Network and keeps abreast of TNC Development Operations related Standard Operating Procedures to keep Arizona in good standing organization-wide.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe Development Operations Manager works toward meeting the strategic priorities of the Arizona fundraising program by developing and coordinating tactics for approved plans and completing and/or overseeing day-to-day tasks. Manages guidelines and analyzes information to achieve results, improve workflow and solve problems. Reports to the Director of Development on activities. The Manager must become an expert in the systems and resources utilized by the team, such as BBCRM, iWave, Target Analytics and other prospect research tools. Applies knowledge to manage, support and design communications related to these development resources. Develops documentation, modifies processes, and participates in the enhancement of systems and tools used by the development team. The Manager remains up-to-date on market trends and best practices to improve services. Works in close cooperation with the following: Director of Development, fundraising and development operations staff; other Conservancy staff; donors and Trustees; vendors; and other relevant parties who have a direct and indirect impact on fundraising production and success. Provides advice, recommendations, and training related to the functional area of the development team. Manage diverse tasks, analyzes situations, evaluates alternatives, projects outcomes, and implements solutions to improve effectiveness of the Arizona's fundraising operations.RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPEShared accountability for strategic and fundraising goals related to the development area.Act independently and in supervisor's stead as needed, exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems.Decisions may bind the organization financially or legally.Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information.Develop and implement new initiatives that ensure the development department & organization-wide goals & strategies are achieved.Ensure programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.Financial responsibility includes assisting with the development of budgets, working within budgets, and negotiating & contracting with vendors.Manage and implement multiple projects, including managing budget, setting deadlines and ensuring accountability.May manage or participate in complex negotiations.May supervise one or more administrative or professional staff; responsibility includes training and professional development.Travel occasionally, work long and flexible hours as needed.Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.Coordinates with Youth Safety Office to assure compliance with TNC's Youth Safety policy when activities may include youth.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination.Experience in not-for profit development revenue and operational planning, budgeting and budget managementExperience managing and implementing multiple projects.Experience writing clearly and effectively for business purposes and for various audiences.Experience demonstrating interpersonal and communications skills.Experience supervising staff, interns, and/or volunteers.Experience negotiating vendor agreements for development resources.Experience with current technology in relevant field such as CRM programs, and the full suite of Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.Experience working with cross-functional teams.Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of philanthropy and development operations.Valid driver's license.Youth certified.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of current and evolving trends and best practices in the field of fundraising, preferably in a non-profit environment.Project planning and project management experience.Ability to manage and implement complex processes.Demonstrated ability to think critically about organizational challenges.Ability to work in partnership with others in a collaborative role.Advanced knowledge in current and evolving technology related to field of experience i.e. Blackbaud CRM, Data Analytics, Microsoft Project, Publisher and other relevant tools.Proficient in interpreting guidelines and manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data.Successful experience implementing strategic program goals.Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences or multi-lingual skills are appreciated.Strong organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.AUTO SAFETY POLICYThis position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program.
