Responsibilities
In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in a
patient's journey by:
* Assess and monitor therapy of patients using appropriate
technical skills under the direction and supervision of a
physician, including with exams and procedures.
* Assist in providing staff training and in-service
instruction.
* Assist in determining staffing requirements and maintaining
effective nursing staff coverage for the practice within budgetary
guidelines.
* Participate in the interviewing and recruiting of nursing
personnel; assist in annual performance evaluations of nursing and
clinical staff.
* Assist with the review and revision of clinical policies and
procedures; assist and collaborate with clinical research.
* Assist in verifying correct coding and charge capture.
* Maintain efficient and appropriate patient flow with focus on
patient safety.
* Perform venipuncture; access implanted ports and maintain central
venous access devices and alternate delivering systems.
* Document all elements of care; triage patient/family phone calls
as needed and document relevant information in the patient's
chart.
* Assess patient/family needs and provide education on a variety of
topics and resources.
* Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy
telephone line and record detailed information in the patient
electronic medical record.
* Facilitate and schedule consultation preop-testing, diagnostic
tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for
patients.
* Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants; serve as
mentor/preceptor and provides day to day guidance to less
experienced nurses.
* Provide nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing
education.
* 5 years of experience required, preferably 1 year an oncology
environment.
* Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac and Life Support) certification
required within 3 months of hire.
* Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in
practicing state.
What You Bring to the Team:
* BSN preferred.
* Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in
the treatment of cancer is preferred.
* Demonstrate knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge
capture.
* Demonstrate awareness of community resources available to
patients and assist with referrals if necessary.
* Maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating
in ongoing educational opportunities.
The safety of our patients and staff is our top priority. Masks may
be required in all Arizona Oncology facilities regardless of
vaccination status. Candidates who accept employment including
current employees who are applying for internal positions, are
required to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination prior to their
