POSITION OVERVIEW
The Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for direct patient care, psychiatric evaluations and prescribing and monitoring medication.
GENERAL DESRIPTION

The Staff Psychiatrist will carry an assigned caseload and will deliver services as part of a team (with clinicians). S/he will provide direct care to clients and oversight of delivery of medical care by clinical support (medical assistants, case managers). Services may be delivered in-office, in-home and/or in community based sites and through electronic means (e.g. telemed). The Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for performing psychiatric evaluations to children and youth using diagnostic criteria and prescribes/monitors medications accordingly. S/he participates in treatment planning, case consultation and staffing and documents client interactions. The Staff Psychiatrist may have the opportunity to teach medical students, residents and fellows. S/he initiates and supports efforts to promote wellness concepts. This position is on call by phone as scheduled.

  • Ability to be flexible to meet client needs
  • Ability to effect change of behavior and safety to self/others in a short amount of time PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
    • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
    • Timely completion of mandated paperwork

    • Complete all required training
    • Stay current with diagnostic and treatment changes/modalities
    • Flexibility and ability to manage ever-changing priorities, to meet the urgent requirements of the client/family
    • Ability to coordinate and communicate with multiple parties (PCP's, hospital staff etc) in a timely manner
    • Ability to advocate and articulate the client's current psychiatric needs to caregivers and clinicians
    • Conduct assessments/evaluations, prescribe medication and monitor progress
    • Demonstrate ability to accurately assess mental status, diagnosis and differential diagnosis
    • Effectively use the Electronic Health Record system
    • Maintain ethical standards and professional boundaries
    • Ability to discern acute levels of care
    • On-going communication with clinicians and other providers
    • Provide consultation and treatment recommendations to the clinical team
    • Participate in staffing as needed
    • Attend/participate in individual and team supervision as scheduled
    • Maintain licensure and certification (if applicable)
      EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

      Graduate of an accredited school of medicine and licensed as a physician in the State of Arizona; completion of a 3-4 year residency in General Psychiatry at an accredited program; completed a 2 year fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at an accredited program; board-certified/board-eligible in General Psychiatry.

      Must have current fingerprint clearance (and maintain during employment) and be able to pass the background check.

      Proof of: current TB test, CPR/FA and a valid Arizona driver's license as well as proof of education are required. The fingerprint clearance and driver's license must be without restrictions. Bilingual-Spanish/English a plus.
