JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Staff Nurse and the Charge Nurse provide safe and effective nursing care in the assigned area(s) in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Arizona Rehab Campus and within the framework of established policies and procedures of the Department of Nursing Services. As a key team member in the clinical area, the Staff Nurse and Charge Nurse promote a climate of effective performance and learning through role modeling, willingness to learn and teach, and availability to patients and staff.
The Charge Nurse organizes, manages and coordinates unit nursing services on assigned shift as delegated by Nursing Administration.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Graduate of accredited School of Nursing or baccalaureate program required; Current licensure as a Registered nurse
thorough the State of Arizona.
Experience:

• Clinical experience in a substance abuse, co-occurring and residential treatment patients'/clients setting preferred;
  • Charge Nurse: Minimum one (1) year in substance abuse, co-occurring and residential treatment patients'/clients nursing or one (1) year experience as a Charge Nurse or equivelent; Certification:
    Healthcare Provider CPR, Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, Handle with Care, and TB within the first 90 days of hire and annually thereafter
    Knowledge/Skills:
    • Must have ability to communicate effectively.
    • Charge Nurse - Must be able to demonstrate leadership ability.
    • Must be able to perform concentrated and/or complex mental activity with frequent involvement in complex and/or highly technical situations;
    • Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions;
    • Must be able to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles;
    • Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures;
    • Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion;
    • Must be capable of adapting to varying workloads an work assignments on a constant basis;
    • Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal.
    • Must have math skills to enable calculation of drug dosages and infusion rates.
    • Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License in order to transport patients and/or staff, or drive facility vehicles. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITON:
      • Must be able to demonstrate special training, knowledge and skills specific to population served, as well as job and/or program specific competency within the first three (3) months of training, and annually thereafter.
        • Must be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation upon hire and recertified every 2 years.
          • Must complete all required mandatory in-services annually.
            • Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire; PPD skin test required annually or chest x-ray if symptomatic.
              • Must be certified in HWC training within the first three (3) months of hire and annually thereafter.
