Job Purpose : C&E Pharmacy Services, LLC dbaTrinity Recruits which is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned (SDVOSB)/Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) supports the Department of Veterans Affairs in recruiting and onboarding high quality Clinical Support personnel, and is seeking the services of onsite Registered Respiratory Therapist(s) for the Southern Arizona Healthcare System located in Tucson, AZ. Work Schedule : Total work week is 40 hours per week/8 hours per day.. Rotating basis as needed for coverage in each assigned area and will be identified. Tour of duty assignments are inclusive of Federal Holidays. Location : Southern Arizona VAHCS 3601 South 6th Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85723 Period of Performance : 8/19/2024-8/17/2025 for 1 year Salary Range : $62,000.00 to $70,000.00 per annum depending on experience and education Background Skills and Qualifications : Registered Respiratory Therapist with current, full and unrestricted license/certification to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia A minimum of two years current experience in this field and recent Respiratory Therapy experience in a hospital setting including covering inpatient units, ED and ICU. Current basic life support (BLS) certification: nurses shall have advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification The ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently Maintenance of current clinical skill and credentialing through in-service programs, continuing education Certificate as an RRT from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and a registry number, OR certificate from another body which the NBRC recognizes as its credentialing equivalent to perform as a respiratory therapist Proof of current Standard Personnel Testing for Tuberculosis, Rubella, Mumps, Varicella, Pertussis, Influenza Ability to independently perform basic and acute respiratory care Ability to assess respiratory status of patients using data acquired through observation and clinical analysis Ability to assist with trauma and code calls Ability to perform Emergency Airway Management Outside of the Operating Room Ability to perform sputum mobilization techniques-sputum inductions, chest percussion, postural drainage, and suctioning of patients Ability to perform, interpret, and report critical results for arterial blood gas sampling and electrocardiograms Ability to assist with fiberoptic bronchoscopy, needle biopsies of the lung, as well as parenchyma and pleural biopsies Ability to transport and monitor the patients in specialty areas. Must be able to perform all activities of the position without restriction. -Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 50-100 lbs.) -Prolonged extensive, or considerable standing/walking -Lifts, positions, pushes, and /or transfers patients -Manual dexterity and mobility -Intermittent exertion when performing treatments. -Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouch Duties and Responsibilities: Administration of oxygen and aerosol therapy, positive pressure devices (BIPAP, CPAP, & IPV) Ventilator care to include advanced techniques, i.e., pressure control modality and associated ventilator adjustments and monitoring with/without graphs. Assessment of respiratory status of patients using data acquired through observation and clinical analysis of blood gas data, chest x-rays and electrocardiograms to determine effectiveness of therapy administered. Participation in cardiopulmonary resuscitation to include the administration of routine, complex, and emergent respiratory care to patients Assisting with endotracheal intubation, extubating, tracheal lavage, and tracheotomy care. Assisting with fiberoptic bronchoscopy, needle biopsies of the lung parenchyma and pleural biopsies. Able to perform sputum mobilization techniques-sputum inductions, chest percussion, postural drainage, and suctioning patients as required Assists in developing plans for weaning patients from mechanical ventilation, and monitoring patients using oximetry, electro-cardiology, and apnea monitoring devices Ensures that appropriate recommendations are given to the physicians regarding changes in therapy. Transportation and monitoring of the patients in specialty areas, i.e., CT scan, X-ray, bronchoscopy, etc., as demonstrated by documentation. Performing, interpreting, and reporting of critical results for arterial blood gas sampling and electrocardiograms Maintenance and troubleshooting at the operator's level, of all assigned respiratory equipment, and reporting, if warranted, such equipment inoperable, using the established procedure. Documentation of all intubation procedures via Computerized Patient Records System (CPRS).
