Presbyterian Kaseman is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) who provides compassionate, age appropriate care to children and adolescents experiencing acute or chronic behavioral, emotional, or psychiatric conditions. The RN promotes a safe, therapeutic environment, collaborates with an interdisciplinary team, and supports patients and families through crisis stabilization, treatment planning, and recovery. How you grow, learn and thrive matters here. • Educational and career development options, including tuition and certification reimbursement, scholarship opportunities • Staff Safety (a wearable badge that allows nurses to quickly and discreetly call for help when safety is a concern) • Differentials for night/weekend shifts, higher education, certifications and various lead roles (for eligible positions) • Malpractice liability insurance • Loan forgiveness through the New Mexico Higher Education Department • EPIC electronic charting system Type of Opportunity: Full time FTE: 0.9 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: 12 Hour Days (United States of America) Responsibilities: The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) responsibilities include: - Assess the physical, emotional, and behavioral health status of pediatric and adolescent patients. - Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on assessed needs and treatment goals. - Administer medications safely, including psychotropic medications, and monitor for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions. - Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and trauma?informed care. - Facilitate therapeutic groups, skills training, and psychoeducation sessions. - Observe and document patient behavior, symptoms, progress, and responses to treatment. - Maintain a safe and structured environment using approved behavior management strategies. - Work closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and direct care staff to support treatment plans. - Maintain clear, compassionate communication with patients' families or guardians. - Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and care conferences. - Ensure compliance with state, federal, and hospital regulations, including HIPAA and patient rights standards. - Address safety concerns immediately and participate in unit safety planning. - Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner. - Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and coping skills. - Provide emotional support and advocate for patient needs.
