Job DescriptionSummary: The role of the PBX Operator is to facilitate telephone, radio, and emergency communications within the hotel. Specifically, this will be done in the following ways:Duties:• Answer, and route all calls coming into the property through the main hotel switchboard• Process coordinate and dispatch guest service requests to the appropriate departments• Provide ongoing administrative or operational support to the Front Office (Front Desk and Reservations) as needed. Requirements:• Ability to work varied shifts, holidays and weekends• Ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations• Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English with guests/visitors, management and co-workers to their understanding, both in person and by telephone• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous• Ability to promote positive relations with all individuals whom you interact with in person, in writing and by telephone• Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up• Ability to focus attention on details• Knowledge of local attractions, services and suppliers/vendors• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guest information and pertinent hotel data• Ability to work well under pressure and coordinate several requests at any given time• Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision• Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations• Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure• Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly• Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately• Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary Other skills/traits:• Outgoing, high-energy yet professional personality• Familiarity and ease with common computer hardware and software• Hospitality-oriented work ethic, emphasis on guest service and anticipating needs.• Deep understanding of the area• Ability to think creatively on one's feet• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
