Position Description The Town of Marana is seeking a Senior Network Administrator to work in the Technology Services Department. This is a full-time position that provides technological services to Town employees by ensuring the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services; protecting Town of Marana information and its infrastructure from external or internal threats; and to assure that the Town of Marana complies with statutory and regulatory requirements regarding information access, security and privacy.

Current Salary Range: $61,746 - $92,619

Effective 7/2/2022
*New Salary Range: $69,155 - $103,733
*subject to budget approval by Council
Examples of Duties

Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.

Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.

Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.

Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.

Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.

Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.

Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.

Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.

Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.

Participate in managing all network security solutions.

Develops and administers processes and standards for information security within the Town of Marana's information security architecture.

Keeps abreast of latest security and privacy legislation, regulations, advisories, alerts and vulnerabilities pertaining to Town of Marana.

Conducts periodic vulnerability and security risk assessment of the assets of the Town of Marana, and administers firewalls, IPS, IDS, application firewalls, SIEMS, router and switch ACL's, VPN remote access servers, and point-to-point encryption routers.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a closely related field.

Three or more years of progressively responsible experience with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.

Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices-to include subnetting.

Must pass a fingerprint clearance background check.

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.


Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or related networking certification.

CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker, CISSP, or related security certification.
