The Intern will obtain experience in the financial healthcare industry and in conducting audit related activity in accordance with Government Auditing Standards (GAS). Under guided supervision, the intern will gain experience in Medicare Part A Audit and Reimbursement as part of our Medicare Administrative Contract (MAC) with the Federal Government (The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) branch of the Department of Health and Human Services). The intern will receive training, participate in audit related workload, be assigned a mentor, and be assigned special projects based on input from the Audit Intern and Management. Flexible work hours are allowed per class load. Responsibilities - Participate in the Desk Review/Audit Process of Medicare cost reports submitted by hospitals and other providers enrolled in the Medicare Part A Program - Gain experience in preparing audit adjustment reports and detailed sets of work papers - Analyze data for reasonableness and compliance - Gain experience with Medicare part A Laws, regulations and CMS audit procedures - Perform additional assignments/projects as requested - Receive training provided on Medicare Part A reimbursement - Network with Healthcare Industry colleagues and entities
