Wilmot Road Tucson, Arizona 85734 www.azcorrections.govJOB SUMMARY: This position functions as the Human Resources (HR) Liaison; an entry-level HR supervisory position responsible for the supervision of two subordinate staff and oversight of the Human Resources office. This position is responsible for communicating with Central Office HR on HR-related topics, issues and concerns; completing, reviewing and approving paperwork authorizing employee hires, transfers, promotions and multiple other related employee status adjustments.JOB DUTIES: -- Performs professional HR administrative work in the areas of recruitment; compensation; employee benefits; employee and management issues; and position control actions -- Ensures employee-related actions are taken in compliance with the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) Personnel Rules and Department policies -- Supervises and oversees the HR Office staff and evaluates work performance -- Utilizes multiple software to initiate hiring actions and prepares various recurring reports for the Institution's Warden, Executive staff and Central Office staff -- Controls and coordinates staff activities for the institution and advises management regarding effective use of positions and employees -- Proctors written exams, schedules oral boards and makes job offers -- Acts as point of contact with Human Services to include HR Operations, Staffing, Classification and Compensation, RUSH and the Central Promotional Register and assists staff in researching complex personnel subjects -- Researches, investigates and communicate requested information for employees, management and Central Office HR on a variety of complex personnel subjects -- Initiates desk procedures and other related topics as they align with the area of responsibility -- Facilitates team meetings and process improvement workgroups -- Travels on State business -- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignmentKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Knowledge of: -- Work application and flow -- HRIS (Human Resources Information System) -- ADOA Personnel Rules, ADOA Compensation guidelines and Federal HR laws -- -- Principles of HR functions including recruitment; examination; classification and compensation; and benefits management -- Business English to include proper sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation -- Spreadsheets and database management -- Personal computers and software including Microsoft Office Skill in: -- Written and verbal communication -- Office organization, delegation, and staff training -- Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships -- Investigation and conflict resolution -- Analyzing and evaluating a wide variety of data, and report preparation -- Prioritization and time management -- Process improvement skills Ability to: -- Apply effective guidance and expertise in the development and implementation of programs, projects, and operating procedures -- Streamline and improve workflow -- Recognize inefficiency, identify discrepancies and formulate a solution -- Ensure deadlines are met -- Apply administrative and management operations under limited supervision -- Maintain confidentiality -- Drive on State business -- Work in a prison environmentSPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S): Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment.
