The successful candidates will begin work immediately with the Community Science and Data Center (CSDC) division of NOIRLab. At CSDC, teams of scientists and engineers work together in an intellectually stimulating environment to build software systems for data-intensive astronomy. • Provide first-line support to system error conditions.
  • Solutions-provider to software engineering teams to architect infrastructure needed for deployment of in-house software systems
  • Working around a data center environment: racking new servers, running cables
  • Maintain hardware systems lifecycle from deployment to phase-out
  • Participate in lab-wide IT solutions in coordination with NOIRLab ITOps
  • Occasional travel (nominally every 2 years) to a data mirror site in La Serena, Chile
  • Participate in continuing education through on-the-job training and/or formal training to stay abreast of rapidly evolving technological trends

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three+ years of Linux systems engineering/administration experience
  • Experience provisioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting bare-metal and virtual Linux servers in a TCP/IP network environment
  • Competency in at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Shell, BASH)

Preferred Qualifications

All candidates with basic familiarity or experience in one or more of these technologies are encouraged to apply:
