Job Description:

Job Purpose:The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, FSA, LPFSA, HSA, other voluntary employee benefits, and 401(k) plan; implementing and administering a comprehensive companywide wellness program; and performing payroll administration by collecting, entering, maintaining, calculating the payroll information, and carrying out other necessary payroll responsibilities. Duties:

  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Assists with new-hire orientations.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests: medical, personal, and FMLA.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
  • Works on the open enrollment process.
  • Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Leads a comprehensive wellness program.
  • Coordinates, plans, and facilitates health and fitness activities and programs for employees.
  • Plans and implements classes, speakers, seminars, personal training, and fitness assessments that promote healthy lifestyles.
  • Develops promotion and publicity plans for wellness and fitness programs throughout the organization.
  • Compiles statistical summaries of participant data, class attendance, and equipment inventories to ensure proper detailed program evaluation.
  • Assists the VP Human Resources in the development of budget, policies, and procedures relevant to the operation of the wellness program.
  • Provides wellness educational presentations and training programs.
  • Reconcile time & attendance records in HRIS system
  • Prepare necessary pay data files for payroll vendor specialist
  • Review payroll register and approve payroll processing
  • Prepares payroll reports and resolves payroll discrepancies
  • Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests
  • Cooperates with the colleagues in the finance and accounting function
  • Other duties as assigned Skills/Qualifications:
    • Two years' experience in HR and/or benefits administration. Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field of study or PHR certification credential preferred. Must maintain high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and information. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint and email. Ability to work with others. Must be reliable. Must have excellent verbal communication skills, with an upbeat, pleasant demeanor. Will be required to dress professionally. General office environment. Primarily sedentary work with some light lifting (mail, supplies, etc).
