Job Description:
The pay rate for is $23.00 /hour. Hourly wage is based on
experience and geographical location.
Travel time and mileage is fully reimbursable.
Field Interviewers are responsible for
Making contact with schools to discuss the study, answer questions,
confirm participation and review/set up assessment logistics.
Collecting confidential information and administering standardized
questionnaires.
Administrate a school-based computerized assessment to
students.
Independently managing administrative duties, including
participating in conference calls and completing online
trainings.
Set up an access point to establish connectivity to the student
Chromebooks. Must be fully familiar with this process after the
training and know how to troubleshoot when the Chromebooks do not
connect. Must be quick on your feet to solve technical issues.
Promptly transmit data after student sessions and completed parent
interviews.
Complete all required activities in a professional manner, while
maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of all information
acquired.
When working in the field, must be willing to agree to any
COVID-19-related protocols put in place by RTI. These could
include, among others, wearing face coverings or respiratory
protection, gloves, taking temperatures daily, social distancing
with survey respondents, getting vaccinated, and/or completing a
health pledge. All safety supplies required for use on the project
will be provided by RTI.
RTI International, is seeking part-time employees to administer a
school-based computerized assessment for the High School and Beyond
study (HS&B). This important research study is sponsored by the
by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) within the
US Department of Education. HS&B provides reliable data on
student achievement as students begin their high school
education.
Minimum Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Must be at least 21 years old at time of employment
Possess effective communication skills through speech and
listening, and fluency in English through reading, writing, and
speaking
Available for entire training and data collection period
Able to successfully complete training
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal automobile
available for business use
Able to keep project information confidential.
Comfortable working in a school setting and in all types of
neighborhoods.
Able to lift and carry 20 pounds, and to transport a 55-pound
rolling case in the field. You will also be required to bend over
to take the tablets out of the rolling cases (which sit on the
floor).
Willing to work a variable work schedule, as dictated by school
schedules (primarily early mornings through mid-afternoon on
weekdays). Field staff will also work some evenings and weekends to
complete parent interviews.
Complete eQIP, a U.S. Department of Education background check and
application and any related documents when requested. You may also
have to meet with an OPM investigator to review your
application.
A requirement of this position is to have eQIP clearance prior to
your start date. This includes completing an online application and
arranging to have your fingerprints taken and submitting the
fingerprint cards. The application will be reviewed by RTI's
security office and the Department of Education. Any feedback you
receive will need to be addressed in a timely manner. eQIP
clearance will occur once the application is scheduled at the
Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency (DCSA).
The eQIP investigation also includes a review of your credit
history. If you have any outstanding financial delinquencies,
including federal taxes, you will be required to provide proof of
payment and/or payment agreements. This may delay your approval to
work on the project.
Must pass a federal security background check. This includes
fingerprinting and signing a confidentiality agreement and
affidavit of nondisclosure. Employees also may be required to
undergo additional security clearance required by some schools
and/or districts.
Preferred Qualifications for Ideal Candidates
Positive, self-motivated, curious, and enjoy interacting with
people from culturally-diverse backgrounds.
Effective time, schedule, and workload management skills to meet
set deadlines.
Computer skills, namely email and internet proficiency.
Adherence to all project deadlines and maintaining accurate records
of progress and administrative reports.
The data collection period is expected to be September, 2022
through January, 2023.
On average, you will be needed approximately 20 hours per week when
work is available.
On average, you should be available to work in the field 3 days
each week.
The majority of this work is anticipated to be weekdays during
daytime hours.
Each of your trips to the field are expected to be at least 4 hours
long
Session Facilitators are required to attend a 4-day training with 2
days being virtual training and 2 days being in-person training,
scheduled for the first week of August, 2022. Attendance at
training is mandatory. Trainees must successfully complete training
including online courses, teleconferences, and a certification to
