Job Description:

About Us: Raytheon Missile and Defense's (RMD) Mechanical Product Team (MPT) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment. The Mechanical Product Team uses state-of the-art tools, processes and technology. MPT's capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines including engineering, manufacturing, materials, processes, analysis, test and documentation.
    - A structural analyst in the MA&T Department has a vast set of responsibilities related to structural integrity of every mechanical part of all RMD products. - The selected candidate will be responsible for detailed structural analysis to support all phases of programs including development and production. The analysis tasks will span the spectrum from classical hand analyses to detailed analyses requiring the use of finite element analysis software. In addition, a structural analyst of this salary grade is expected to have a high degree of technical competence and be a recognized technical leader and/or leader of teams of engineering analysts. - The selected candidate will work under only general direction and will be expected to define the scope and level of analysis to meet required objectives and assist in program planning. The structural analyst will be held accountable for completing their work and the work of others on their team within the agreed upon cost and schedule. The candidate will be expected to present their work for peer reviews and to be a peer reviewer for other engineers' work. The customers of this position will include internal personnel and programs as well as external Government(s) personnel and programs. The selected candidate will work with the customer and engineering leadership to define testing required to validate structural analyses and to verify that hardware is compliant with requirements. In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to plan and support tests, perform data reduction, and engage in structural model correlation. -Someone this role will also be expected to assist with proposal preparation including estimating the scope of new engineering projects.

    • Perform Hand Calculations to determine scope of higher detail analysis models
    • Perform detailed analysis to solve diverse program structural challenges
    • Perform peer reviews of analyses to validate process and results
    • Document results according to RMD standards
    • Deliver results to customers (internal and external)
    • Act as a technical leader and/or lead analysis/test teams Required Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree in General Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Applied Physics or related field from an accredited university. - ABET is preferred, but not required, accreditation standard. -Advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master's is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience
      • 8 years of structural analysis experience
      • Structural dynamic analysis experience using PATRAN/NASTRAN or ANSYS
      • Understanding of mechanical principles to solve classical structural analysis solutions both inside and outside of finite element tools
      • Proficiency with engineering workstations running Windows and Office suite
      • Ability to work on a Raytheon plant-site including the ability to attend in-person meetings, visit test laboratories
      • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance within 1 year of the start date. U.S. citizenship is required Qualifications We Value:
        • 10 or more years of experience of structural analysis of complex systems that require collaboration of multiple engineering disciplines (such as a weapon system)
        • Earned Value Management System knowledge
        • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
        • Demonstrated experience in structural testing: planning, organization, execution, data reduction and correlation
        • Strong interpersonal skills working in a team environment
        • Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities
        • Advanced degree in aforementioned disciplines. -ABET is the preferred accreditation standard
