Research Program Coordinator, RENEW Team Posting Number req12339 Department Family and Community Medicine Department Website Link www.fcm.arizona.edu Location UAHS - Tucson Address 3950 S Country Club, Tucson, AZ 85713 USA Position Highlights The RENEW (Recovery through ENgaging and Empowering Women) Research Program Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating and/or executing all aspects of this growing research program led by Dr. Alicia Allen. This program focuses on identifying female-specific factors (e.g., pregnancy, menstrual cycle) that contribute to addiction, as well as how those factors may be used to prevent and/or treat substance misuse (e.g., cigarette smoking, illicit opioid use). The selected individual will ensure successful implementation of and adherence to clinical research protocols, as well as meeting milestones regarding planning, administrative approvals,enrollment, participant engagement, data collection, and reporting. This individual will also have close interactions with faculty members and investigators leading these research activities, as well as train and supervise study staff, interns, and students.   • Facilitates overall research program activities including, but not limited to: (a) providing overall team coordination (e.g., leading meetings, asynchronous communication, hiring/onboarding new staff/students, quality control), (b) developing and updating standard operating procedures, compliance forms, and tracking documents, (c) providing oversight and guidance to research staff and students for all aspects of conducting a clinical research, (d) making day-to-day decisions that support of study goals, (e) supervising 4-5 full-time staff plus numerous interns and students, and (f) serving as the go-to resource for all clinical research staff, trainees, and students for all aspects of conducting a clinical research projects, escalating items to PI as necessary.
  • Participates in all ongoing data collection efforts on multiple clinical research projects simultaneously by: (a) developing strategies to ensure increased study awareness and effective enrollment of participants, (b) recruiting study participants via completing interviews and evaluating potential participants for eligibility, (c) obtaining informed consent, (d) collecting and maintaining participant data, (e) developing education materials and training for participants and study team to assure safety and protocol adherence, (f) developing and maintaining rapport with study participants and community partners, (g) ensuring proper collection, processing, and handling of biological specimens, and (h) providing participants compensation and incentives.
  • Oversees all administrative and financial efforts including, but not limited to: (a) reviewing monthly grant reports and participating in quarterly grant report meetings, (b) projecting study needs for personnel and supplies, (c) ordering and maintaining study supplies, and (d) preparing administrative reports and facilitating correspondence (e.g., NIH, IRB, FDA).
  • Contributes to the development of new research projects such as: (a) participating in the design and development of clinical studies and protocols, (b) reviewing professional literature to design appropriate research methodologies, techniques and procedures, (c) developing and maintaining protocol information and data/collection tools, and (d) assisting PI in submission of new grants, including with the preparation of Human Subjects documentation for NIH and other federally funded grant applications. Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
    • Eight (8) years of relevant work experience is required. Preferred Qualifications* Professional and/or lived experience (e.g., self, family member) with substance use disorders. * Experience leading a clinical research projects within an academic setting.Experience supervising teams comprised of a diverse group of individuals.
