Position Highlights
University Analytics & Institutional Research (UAIR) is looking to
hire passionate and experienced individuals who want to apply their
analytical skills and learned knowledge to support the educational
and research missions of the University of Arizona and the

Intelligence Developer, Senior within UAIR, you will support or
lead a wide variety of projects, including but not limited to
supporting nightly ETL batch loads, data integrations, building and
maintaining data models, and development of resources within the
Universities OLAP reporting tools supporting the university's
enterprise scale business intelligence platform (UAccess
Analytics), data quality validation, and ad hoc analytical and
research requests as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides analytical expertise in the planning, development, and
assessment of University objectives, and long-range and strategic
plans.
- Identify business intelligence, reporting and data analysis
needs at the University with the objective of turning data into
critical information and knowledge which can be utilized to make
sound decisions which support University operations. Maintains the
Data Warehouse and the associated business intelligence
environments.
- Performs analysis using various techniques, e.g. statistical
analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, etc. to identify
patterns in data.
- Makes critical observations and provides data
interpretation.
- Develops reports to recommend strategies and plans.
- Serve as a key member of the University Analytics and
Institutional Research (UAIR) team.
- Build, maintain, and optimize logical data models, data marts,
and other ad-hoc data structures to support university
reporting.
- In partnership with our internal Data Engineering team, build,
maintain, and optimize nightly ETL batch jobs for migrating
information from various transactional systems into our Enterprise
Data Warehouse.
- Build, maintain, and optimize database objects such as tables,
views, indexes, etc.
- Assist with query tuning and optimization.
- Collect, validate, analyze, and report university data as
directed.
- Engage in large-scale reporting projects by developing,
defining, and executing project plans, schedules, tasks, issues,
and deliverables.
- Design and implement innovative approaches (automation,
visualization) to disseminate information to university
constituents, such as trending, year-over-year, rankings analyses
and predictive forecasting of outcomes.
- Collect, validate, and analyze university data, external higher
education data, as directed to ensure the university meets all
state and federal reporting and benchmarking requirements.
- Collaborate with other team members, including UAIR Management
and external partners to discuss business needs, propose
enhancements, and manage workload and implementation of projects
and requests, and enhance user experience.
- Document and build out subject matter expertise on external
data brought into our warehouse for internal reporting, analysis,
and consumption.
- Engage in data quality management of institutional data in the
warehouse environment.
- Lead process development efforts to solve complex
problems.
- Validate the accuracy ofinternal and external reports and
analyses. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interest and aptitude in data evaluation and quality
control.
- Project management skills, with the ability to adeptly
communicate project needs, limitations, timelines and realistic
project expectations time management and prioritization.
- Ability to perform statistical analysis; determine appropriate
statistics for data types including frequencies, chi-square,
correlation, multiple regression and others.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as function
as a team member.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills; ability to
manage multiple projects and priorities and meet negotiated
timelines.
- Ability to present complex data in a succinct, meaningful way
to a variety of audiences.
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical, logical problem
solving, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated capability with respect to data modeling (mapping
out data connecting points and planning for appropriate query
execution).
- Ability to take business requirements to create specifications
and designs. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors' degree in related discipline or equivalent
experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience is
required.
- Experience in using SQL and OLAP systems.
- Experience working with Business Intelligence Tools (Oracle
Business Intelligence, Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
- Experience with data warehouse (conception, design,
implementation, and support). Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Business Intelligence (conception, design,
implementation, and support).
- Experience in implementing and maintaining data snapshots.
- Experience with repository development and/or reporting within
an Oracle Business Intelligence, Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), Oracle
Analytics Server (OAS), or Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud
Services (BICS).
- Demonstrated experience delivering data models of complex data
sets that are accurate and responsive.
- Experience working with data and/or mandatory reporting in a
higher education environment.
- Experience with university processes and multiple
administrative system (Peoplesoft Human Capital Management & Campus
Solutions, Kuali Financials & Coeus).
- Experience with R, Python, or other statistical software.
- Experience in developing queries (SQL) and reports/ dashboards
from relational databases.
- Advanced experience in SQL tuning and optimization.
- Experience with predictive modeling, machine learning and/or
advanced analytical techniques.
- Experience with ETL/ELT processes using tools like IBM
Datastage or similar.
