Description Where the Chemistry Happens We are seeking a professional like you to join our Performance Chemical Division supporting our Global Business Development team at the Tucson, AL site. As a Technical Specialist, you will be a key component as you will provide sales support through routine testing, analysis, and general technical service. Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent As a Technical Specialist you create chemistry by * Learning all standard hydrometallurgical and solid liquid separation techniques and procedures * Maintaining and repairing lab equipment as well as ensuring that ISO requirements are met for each instrument and procedure * Tracking hydrometallurgical and solid liquid separation analysis * Performing testing for customer related projects as well as preparing samples per customer requests * Preparing laboratory QC solutions, diluents, and standards and ensuring that samples meet specifications * Performing analysis on plant profile samples. You will also log, and report results to Technical Sales group * Updating database and tracking samples and results, as well as writing and revising standard operating procedures (SOPs) * Fulfilling sample requests from customers, requests range from unique blends to neat reagent * Operating as a competent RCRA hazardous waste employee, assuring standards of safety, environmental, team and individual performance are met in a high-performance team-based organization. * Interacting on a frequent basis with sales representatives and technical service laboratory personnel. You will also interact with existing customers as well as potential new customers Your formula for success * Bachelors degree in chemistry/metallurgy/mining engineering or other related discipline * Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills * Ability to build and sustain strong relationships within the Technical Services group * Self-directed and motivated * Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques * Proficient computer skills - specifically Microsoft Excel * Practical knowledge of Atomic Absorption (preferred) * Fluent in Spanish (preferred) You @ BASF At BASF you get more than just compensation, Medical & Dental.
