Job Description:

To oversee the Recreation Dept. which includes Kids Club, Resort Activities & Pool area. To consult with guests in coordinating services toward their needs in an efficient courteous and professional manner. Support and lead all programming staff in all issues relating to guest satisfaction, proper technical procedures and general knowledge of all facts of the resort.

Primary Responsibilities:

---Plan, prepare, lead and conduct activities for children and adults

---Oversee attendants as they conduct activities, work as pool attendants

---Keeping work areas clean and organized.

---Being able to instruct guests on resort activities and facility locations.

---Support director in activities for convention groups when assigned.

---Take reservations for activities.

---Communicates with conference planning, engineering, banquets, set-up, grounds, sales, accounting, human resources, front office and all other departments as it pertains to the functions of the activities department.

---Proficiency with computer scheduling with the ability to mentor and train in this area.

---In-depth knowledge of all recreational services including trends, etc.

---Continuous awareness of satisfying guests. The ability to mentor others in the areas of empowerment and problem resolution.

---Assist in finding the ultimate cause for guest problems and institute change.

---Informing management of ways to improve: Overall operation of recreational activities and resort, Working conditions and Comfort of our guests.

---General knowledge of all facets of the resort.

---Be involved in planning and implementing activities within the resort - to include children's programs, adult activities, special or holiday events, corporate events and general recreation.

---Supervising activities staff, ensuring all necessary duties are taking place.

The major responsibility in this position is to manage the functional areas of Recreation, which includes Kids Club & Pool areas. Therefore a significant portion of the workday is spent moving about, speaking and listening, usually while standing up.

The vast majority of time is spent moving about while communicating with staff or guests. Close supervision and interaction with staff and guests is essential in this position to ensure guest satisfaction. A significant portion of time is spent using the hotel's computer system for reservations, scheduling or other guest related services.

Lifting or carrying approximately 50 lbs. can occur at times, but not often. A small portion of time is spent sitting down and some of this time is spent completing departmental paper work, such as schedule or ordering office supplies. Reading and writing abilities are used often in reviewing and compiling departmental records or guest registration and reservation information.

Since the employee in this position oversees several subordinates, a vast amount of time is spent utilizing problem solving, reasoning, motivating and training abilities.
