Do you have a passion for GPS based navigation?Are you interested in developing innovative weapon systems for the US and our allies?The Guidance and Navigation Systems Department within the Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Center at Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS) in Tucson, AZ, has several positions available in the area of navigation systems engineering and design. The Navigation Systems Engineer will apply knowledge of software and hardware related to integrated Inertial Navigation System (INS) / Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation products. The engineer will be involved in the design, analysis, integration, and test of INS/GPS subsystems for missile applications. The Senior Systems Engineer I (GNC Engineer) is responsible for development and implementation of navigation algorithms and software, modeling and simulation of hardware/software navigation components, requirements and interface definition, hardware/software integration testing, and flight performance analysis. The individual will work as a part of an Integrated Product Team structure guiding the successful completion of major programs. In this role, the engineer will interact with senior subject matter experts for advice and will represent the organization as a primary technical contact for navigation.Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions):Develop and implement missile navigation algorithms and flight softwareAnalyze navigation performance in simulation, laboratory, and flight testingResolve navigation system anomalies observed in simulation or test environmentsU.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.Required Education, Skills and Experience: BS degree from an ABET accredited institution in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.Strong academic and analytical background with course work and independent research that includes a combination of: dynamics, control systems, state estimation, or signal processing.Four (4) years of applied work experience related to navigation system development.Applied knowledge of inertial measurement units (IMU, accelerometers, gyroscopes) and/or GPS receivers.Other Requirements: Must have an existing or the ability to obtain a Department of Defense issue Secret security clearance.Must be available for travel to support customer/supplier meetings and/or provide on-site flight test support.Must be willing to relocate to Tucson, AZ (comprehensive relocation package available)Desired Education, Skills and Experience: Masters or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.Knowledge of optimal estimation theory and analysis of random processes, such as Kalman filter design.Experience with non-GPS navigation aiding methods, such as terrain, magnetic, or image aiding.Experience testing navigation systems on airborne platforms.Experience with developing or integrating military GPS receivers into weapon systems.Knowledge of the related disciplines of Guidance and Control Systems.Experience in the development of modeling and simulation tools, particularly Covariance analysis or Monte Carlo analysis using six degree of freedom (6-DOF) simulations.Experience developing or modifying MATLAB and C/C++ software.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across engineering disciplines.Check us out on YouTube:Raytheon Company OverviewAre you ready to be remarkable with Raytheon?We Stand OutTrain Today.
