Tower Technician

Job Description:
The Tower Technician will support, from the ground up, the
assembly and erection of towers up to two thousand feet,
construction and/or maintenance of towers, foundations, broadcast
antenna, transmission lines, shelters, solar systems and
communication towers. The Tower Technician will work with minimal
oversight while following directions and adhering to construction
industry safety standards closely. The Tower Technician will work
outdoors and should be able to work in all weather conditions.
Technician
- Takes part in project meetings to review the work plan to
understand responsibilities, safety, and scope.
- Install, troubleshoot, service and maintain towers and tower
accessories.
- Support ground/civil work during tower site construction.
- Perform work on tower top, including rigging, hoisting,
landing, fastening, load hopping, etc.
- Understand and strictly adhere to all safety and quality
guidelines without deviation.
- Understanding of basic mechanical terms and tools.
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and
supplies.
- The ability to use hand tools, power tools and industry test
equipment.
- Ability to learn and retain physical and mechanical
installation specifications.
- Ability to connect and disconnect assorted sizes and types of
coax and hardline connectors.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job
specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
- Work schedule will require open availability including
weekends, holidays, and overnights determined by the needs of the
business; must be flexible.
- Must be available to travel and work outside of home market for
extended periods of time, based on business needs. (Per Diem
allotments will be paid for travel)
- Must be able to successfully complete and pass a
pre-employment, post-offer background check and drug test.
- Must have aptitude and willingness to climb and perform work at
elevated heights for extended periods of time.
- When working on site, will be required to wear common
protective or safety equipment, such as full-body harnesses.
Reporting
- Project closeout: final quantities, final closeout package,
pictures, reports, commissioning.
- Daily reports for safety, general job site inspections.
- Equipment reports/inspections documented daily.
- Timecard requirements must fill out daily.
- Annual training reports and certifications.
Driving
- Operates a company vehicle in accordance with local
laws/regulations.
- Operates vehicles in safe and courteous manner.
- Keeps assigned vehicle clean and orderly.
- Reports maintenance requirements and/or damage in a timely
manner.
Safety
- Promotes, executes, and adheres to the company's safety
program.
- Manages and supervises daily and weekly on-site field safety
briefings.
- Manages and supervises safety meetings, conduct training
sessions, and inspections.
- Works in a safe, responsible manner without intentional or
unintentional risks for injuring oneself or endanger the wellbeing
of others.
- Cooperates with safety personnel, supervisors, managers, and
investigators to ensure proper procedures are carried out according
to the Company and customer's safety policies.
- Identifies and reports safety violations to safety
personnel.
Teamwork
- Leads the crew to the successful completion of the
project.
- Promotes a team approach and maintain dialogue with all
employees to communicate information and gather ideas.
- Mentors, co-workers, and subordinates to guide them in
progression of their careers, and advancement in the company.
- Collaborates with other company personnel to meet
organizational and project deadlines, metrics, and mission
objectives.
Education
- High School graduate/GED
Experience
- Three (3) years of industry experience OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that
provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform
duties
Licenses/ Certification/ Registration
- Climber Certification
- Current driver's license
- Proof of U.S. citizenship
Special knowledge, skills, & abilities
- Knowledge of leadership techniques, production methods, and
coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of organizational operating practices or
procedures.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in
construction projects.
- Ability to look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how
they would look as solid objects.
- Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and
weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to
problems.
- Knowledgeable in construction equipment and governmental
requirements.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved
in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and
drawings of towers, structures, and foundations.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions, plans,
specifications, and contract documents.
- Must have the ability to work hours required to successfully
complete the work which may include extended days and weekends
- Must be able to successfully complete and pass a
pre-employment, post-offer background check and drug screening
