Job SummaryService Technician-HVAC has extensive experience and
presents an overall expertise in all facets of troubleshooting,
diagnosing, and installing all of types and brands of HVAC
equipment. Position performs tasks associated with Residential or
Commercial troubleshooting, maintenance, installation, and
warranty-related tasks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follows all safety guidelines.
- Seeks direction and clarification from supervisor on production
goals and ensures tasks are completed per company quality.
- Troubleshoots, identifies, diagnoses, and corrects issues.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Ensures materials, tools, and equipment assigned are kept
secure and maintained.
- Installs, services, and troubleshoots HVAC equipment and ice
machines.
- Communicates with customers about the proper usage of their
product.
- Uses diagnostic tools to identify issues and evaluate the
available information.
- Repairs defective or broken products or orders the necessary
parts to replace faulty or worn-out parts.
- Small hand tools, meters, and gauges are required.Non-Essential
Duties and Responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years + experience in the
installation and servicing of HVAC systems.
- Possess general knowledge in HVAC equipment, components,
methods of installation, safety procedures, safe work practices,
proper diagnostic abilities, understanding proper equipment
charging methods, use of necessary hand and power tools specific to
troubleshooting HVAC equipment.
- Possess an EPA certification.
- Experience in industrial and commercial chillers &
boilers.
- Experience with Central plants, heating, and chilled water
hydronic systems including servicing and maintaining these
systems.
- Ability to safely and responsibly install and repair
refrigerant piping.
- Must be available to work overtime as needed.
- Must be willing to work weekends and 24-hour on-call schedules
as needed.
Educational/Certification Requirement
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Completion of a 2-year HVAC Certification as well as multiple
pieces of training on various HVAC systems.
- Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the
work.
Skills and Abilities
- Skilled in the use and care of the standard tools and equipment
of the trade.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
- Expert knowledge with accurately interpreting project-related
drawings and documentation, including plans, specifications,
drawings, schematics, diagrams, sketches, and blueprints to ensure
proper installation means and methods.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and
orally.
- Ability to effectively use a computer, email, and cell
phone.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt easily to
changes to planned tasks or schedules, work well under pressure.
Physical Demands
- Safely lift and carry a maximum of 50 lbs unassisted.
Permissible weight lifting limit may increase with 1) proper use of
personal protective equipment (i.e., back brace); 2) and / or
adequate assistance or support by one or more trained co-workers or
other individuals; and / or by other approved mechanical or
engineered means.
- The job may require repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers
and / or prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, stooping,
pushing, pulling, lifting or walking throughout workday.
- The job may require exposure to or work on, near or from:
- Job site conditions during inclement weather, such as extreme
heat, cold, or precipitation.
- Uneven or slip-prone surfaces, ditches, trenches, and other
types of excavations.
- The operating of heavy equipment, vehicular traffic, and
extreme noise conditions.
- Restricted or confined spaces such as manholes, utility
tunnels, crawl spaces, attics, clean rooms, and / or raised metal
floors.
- Various heights by use of ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts,
catwalks, and other manual elevated work platforms and areas.
- Wearing a personal (waist) tool belt at all times while
performing work on a job site which may weigh approximately 30
pounds when stocked.
- Energized electrical systems and equipment, storage containers,
transmission raceways, and manufacturing equipment containing
chemicals or potentially toxic materials.
- The use of construction site sanitary facilities (i.e.,
Porta-John.)
Work Environment
- This position requires work to be accomplished in a
field/construction environment that is subject to outdoor
temperatures and confined spaces. Travel Required
- None at this time. Work Authorization/Security Clearance
