Experience with computer charting, preferably Cerner Description:
Travelers are required to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to
accepting an offer, with a maximum of two attempts. Candidates must
achieve a score of 80%. Failure to pass will result in a DNU status
for six months. Travelers will participate in a simulated lab
during orientation. Study guides will be provided. Experience with
c-sections is mandatory. Candidates must be comfortable with
dysrhythmia knowledge prior to submitting. The unit consists of 18
Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum rooms, 14 bed OB triage, and 8
bed Antepartum. The average number of deliveries is between 8-10
per day. The facility has 2 fully equipped operating rooms for
c-sections. The unit follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient
ratios but may not achieve these daily due to staffing. Assignments
are considered safe, with typical ratios being 2:1, 4:1 in
Antepartum, and 1:1 for c-sections. The electronic medical record
system used is Cerner. The fetal monitoring system utilized is
Fetal Link. Charge nurses are available for support. Nursing aides
are not available on the unit. Weekend shifts are required for
travelers. Call or standby shifts are voluntary. Holidays should be
negotiated upon availability. Scrubs are provided in blue.
Respiratory therapy and anesthesia are available 24/7. Pharmacy
services operate around the clock. Floating to other units may be
required as needed. Travelers must be proficient in circulating and
recovering c-sections. The unit is classified as Level II, caring
for patients at 28 weeks gestation and greater. It also functions
as a Level 1 trauma center. The hospital has a cancellation policy
that allows up to 4 shift cancellations for a 13-week assignment.
Candidates will be required to titrate drips, including Pitocin and
Magnesium Sulfate, as per protocols. Common patient diagnoses
include laboring and preterm pregnant patients. 5 Benefits of
